My inspiration was modern luxe farmhouse with our stunning Novogratz furniture being the main feature in the room. I must admit, Moo Cow the kids wall art came first and the rest of the room had to work around her, it was love at first sight!

Adding to the farmhouse vibe in the room was the stunning chandelier from Restoration Hardware.

I was really struggling to find a cute toddler bed for girls, until I found this line at Novogratz who I’m partnering with on this blog post.

For the walls, I color matched one of the warm white tones in Moo Cow’s background ProTip - I got 4 test paint cans to make sure we chose the perfect white (it’s harder then you think😜). It’s a small room so it really helped brighten it up and it makes it feel like he’s in the room with us!

When you have a smaller room, the bigges piece of advice I can give you is focus on one statement piece of furniture. For us, it was the bed. It’s such an iconic piece and really sets the tone for the entire room.

The bed itself is a pink velvet trundle bed, and Aura is SO excited to have a bestie (or 10) come sleepover when it’s rolled out, it’s huge! The craftsmanship is genuinely incredibly, the tufts and seams are so beautifully made it feels so special. The trundle just rolls out from underneath so seamlessly you could even put it in another room when having guests come to stay. It’s so multifunctional and beautiful and is really one of my favourite pieces of furniture.

Let me let you in on an interior designer’s secret…

I picked up the floor lamp chandelier from Craigslist and the pouffe from Restoration Hardware Outlet! Outlet shopping was key!

Pro Tip - You can also time your reno in line with end-of-season sales and/or black Friday you can design at a fraction of the cost!

For the Rug, I chose a colorful daisy with delicate petals that reminds me of Aura’s sunny personality!

I love how their throw rugs can alao be used in the bathroom or kitchen as well. They’re all super bright and cheerful and you can shop them below!

I chose placement infront of the Moo Cow so she can sit on it as she reads her favorite books.

The bookshelf is in this super cute dollhouse design - I love how it can accomodate different sizes of books and even has little windows and handles on the sides so you can lift it from the reading corner to the play room to double as an actual dollhouse!

All of these pieces were very easy to assemble and all come packed in a flat lay box for convenience. I was able to put them together myself (with my husband’s earnest help and a drink in hand)!

All these pieces are super functional, but also have a High-End feel to them.

The floors were sanded from a maple finish and we ended up staining them a dark walnut color to contrast against the lighter furniture.

Pro tip: Darker woods always have an inherently more classic and smart feel to them. Sourcing cheaper alternatives for a rich dark wooden floor can make any space look expensive, even on a budget!

The shelves below are from Restoration Hardware and match the floor stain.
