I’ve been wanting to go to the Design Influencers Conference for the past four years but have always either been pregnant or nursing unable to get away for a few days. This was my first time away, EVER, from the kids to do something for myself. It was really nice connecting with other young designers, influencers and brands.

Here’s a quick lowdown on the sessions I attended:

Day 1

  • How in-person moments can make a digital influencer’s career by Kate O’Hara

  • How to make yourself a priority while prioritizing social media by Abbi McCollum & Stacey Kunstel

  • Build multiple digital income streams by Deborah von Donop

  • Home design commerce is local and Google is paying attention. Use your blog to attract locals clients and increase your bottom line by Sandra Funk & Nicole Heymar

  • Keynote Speaker Barry Dixon who was one of my favourites and I have 2 of his books, both signed!

  • Afterparty sponsored by Monogram Appliances at the Ferguson showroom. Be sure to see how I so obviously look cooking dinner overnight in the top photo and on my IG - LOL!

Day 2

  • The evolution and power of influencer marketing in the design industry by Adam Japko (he’s the one that whole conference, thank you Adam!)

  • What can design pros and brands learn from fashion and beauty marketing by James Nord - I was really impressed with his speech and actually joined his influential marketing company FOHR

  • Don’t sleep on Pinterest: Keys to board organisation, optimisation and increased web traffic by Kyla Herbes

  • Introvert, extrovert, how to build your design authority and gain a loyal audience when your happy place is behind the scenes by Donna Garlough & Joanna Hawley

  • Savvy giving by design by Susan Wintersteen

  • Google analytics for social media marketing by Charles Farina

  • Gain YouTube stardom with these 4 easy optimisation tips by Stephanie Duerden & Taylor Hori (I’m definitely starting a Youtube channel with my kids! Stay tuned! *order tripod* lol!)

  • Coastal living and universal furniture: furnishing a lifestyle by Neil MacKenzie & Kirsten Payne (I sooo need to collaborate with this brand living on the water in California and spending all my summers in Cape Cod!)

  • Carson Kressley from Queer Eye - I LOVE this guy! He was so funny and it was great to hear him talk design.

  • Afterparty at Porcelanosa

I will be writing in more depth about each of the sessions, but wanted to share quickly with you guys the overall conference. If you have any questions or would like more information on any of the speakers, comment or email me at lynn@goldwestvintage.com. Let’s go get ‘em in 2019!
